Soldier Gear Paintball hosted the first event in the Central Division, where teams from across the Central borders came hungry for a new taste of the 2009 season. Paintball teams quickly filled the fields, excited to show off what they have been keeping in during the off-season. Spectators trailed not too far behind, ready to catch every bit of the action that these previous (and few new teams) had to bring in. The rain was coming down heavier than ever, but to the players and spectators, this was not an excuse or reason to pack it up and wait another day, rather a time to remember and share with friends and families back home. The first match of the day is always the ice breaker, but Cambridge Raiders and Wasaga Beach Boyz had high intentions for one another. Cambridge Raiders picked up a variety or fresh, new, and young talent where guys like Krushyn Grape, Travis Kropf, and Stefan Herda had the chance to wrap up easy kills and pull in points for the team. On the other hand, Wasaga Beach Boyz were fresh out of the box, bringing their talent to a whole new level from MXL to the CXBL. It was definitely a tough match for Wasaga Beach Boyz, but Cambridge Raiders experience over came the young talent, winning the match 17-5. The next match showed that Barrie Chop Shop (who were thought to be the underdogs) were actually a storm of fury, chopping up London Express 12-6. London later that day battled through Coboconk Conspiracy where they won the match 9-8. But was Coboconk Conspiracy really going to settle with their loss to London Express? No way. They knew what needed to be fixed and switched up to make lines with results. As another team coming to a whole new level of play from MXL to CXBL, they were just getting a feel for the big leagues. Andrew Weedman, being one of the nicest and most positive aspects towards the team is not going to look at this loss with disappointment, but rather a taste for what the Central CXBL division has brought in for 2009. Cambridge Raiders proved to once again be the more dominant team when taking on Windsor Lockdown at 2:30pm. These teams had spectators out of their seats and fired up with the action brought to the field. The will to win was there, grinding through point after point, but Raiders adapted to Lockdown. Raiders took the win with a close 11-9 score. CXBL once again wrapped up another successful event, despite the conditions Saturday brought in for Sunday. Teams packed up, ready to head home and happily share the experiences and memories with family and friends. The reffing was absolutely flawless, leaving nothing other than positive posts on the nation and other local forums. It was a job well done, and a weekend to remember. Tune in next week as Paintball Action Games hosts the first Western event of the season. The action is just around the corner so be prepared for more amazing and thrilling events from the CXBL and AXBL!
